Map of Africa

Map Of Africa is a band featuring the legendary DJ and musician Harvey Bassett and Thom Bullock of the Rub ‘n’ Tug DJ crew (also former of A.R.E. Weapons) combined forces of Tonka Soundsystem and balearic DJs wet dream. The two grew up together in eastern England and have been making music together since they were old enough to play. Map of Africa is an album of sleazy, psychedelic rock that has an underlying sound of funk and blues emerging through the bottom of the music, unlike anything that’s been released in recent years.
Map Of Africa has been released on Whatever We Want Records.

Without Backbones

Without Backbones designers, Robin Graves and Joseph Hodgkinson, describe the spring collection as “a dress code of black on black, barely there boys in oversized sportswear, Pikeys and dogs, and 90’s suburbia England.” Graves spent his adolescence growing up in a provincial seaside town. This inspired him both negatively and positively.

The New Zealand based designer, Alex 'Jaeha' Kim get inspired by Tim Burton's tragic character, Edward Scissor hands, for his autumn winter '08 collection titled 'Zip Me Up After You're Finished'.

Mod Rocket

Mod Rocket is a straight up rock group of teenage true blue ladies from NYC. Formed in 2001 when they all were still on junior high. Alex, the guitarist and youngest member, recently won the Lower East Side guitar competition hosted by the bar Max Fish. The 16-year-old blew the crowd away with her skills and spirit. FUCT: “Same Shit Different Day” F/ W 08

FUCT- SSDD (Same Shit Different Day) collection is manufactured and sold exclusively in Japan & inspired by classic, traditionally American style. Each garment was carefully engineered to convey a vintage, “worn in” look, using special aging and distress techniques as well as simulated magic marker print detailing. FUCT’s SSDD collection echoes the societal landscape, issues, and tensions in the United States during the 1960’s and 70’s such as the rise and fall of the hippie movement, drug use, and communal lifestyle.

Battles

Battles' music has a 99.9% chance of being 100% better than any of the mopey shit you and your friends record in bedrooms. They're routinely labeled a math-rock band, but differential calculus or combinatorics would be more accurate reference points. The debut album on which “Atlas” appears is entitled Mirrored. It follows a furtive stream of cryptically-designed EPs that have earned the band a sizable digital following to coincide with the audiences they’ve entranced in the quasi-estranged physical space.

Nyne

The designers of New Zealand based label 'Nyne' say their actual inspiration was the film Transformers. Hence the semi-metallic fabrics, wet-look polyester, rivets on dresses, militaristic mesh, interestingly shaped hoodies and the acid-wash grey, which was meant to be, they say, “like urban camouflage".

Rebel Dance

Here's a preview of New York based label 'Rebel Dance' autumn winter '09 collection. Rebel Dance founder and designer, Maikhanh Bertrand, is inspired by world travel and aspires to be for travellers "expressing their power through art and celebration". He found a name to describe this entity; expressing the nomadic sophistication they exude.
