Neil Barrett's Tokyo Flagship Store

Photobucket
Neil Barrett opened his new Concept Flagship store in the Aoyama district of Tokyo. The freestanding 550mq store is designed by the visionary architect Zaha Hadid. The concept is based on inserting a large "sculpture furniture", 28 meters long and 3 meters high, into the central area of the space. Made from Corian by Dupont, the sculptural 4,5 ton mass unravels multiple curves and layers, which form shelving display. The aerodynamic engineering create flat surfaces that act like wings which marks a new level of complexity in store design.

"I chose Zaha Hadid because I believe she embodies the crossover between art and architecture. I believe collaborating with such an avant garde "architect-artist" can lead to a unique situation in concept store design"
NEIL BARRETT
