Bat For Lashes
Bat For Lashes is the musical alias for the very talented Natasha Kahn who hails from Brighton and along with her bandmates Ginger Lee and Abi Fry they have created one of the most compelling debut albums released so far this year.
Sonically it falls somewhere between the epic yet bleak landscapes of Bjork with elements of chamber music and the distorted pop of Kate Bush to create something that is spooky as it is enchanting.
Album opener ‘Horse And I’ sets the tone with its lush strings and foreboding synths whilst the record as a whole displays strong elements of folk mixed with avant garde sensibilities as the likes of ‘The Wizard’ and ‘Sad Eyes’ display.
